The village Prad

Our guesthouse is located in the picturesque village of “Prad am Stilfserjoch” in the heart of the Stelvio National Park. The village of Prad (920m) is a lively market town, with about 3600 inhabitants, at the beginning of the world-famous Stilfserjochstraße also known as the Stelvio Road. In the centre of the small town there are many different shops and restaurants. Every Tuesday morning a weekly market is taking place in the streets of the village.

Especially for sports enthusiasts Prad is an ideal holiday destination. Many bicycle tourists feel particularly well at Prad because the surroundings are offering many cyclring routes. But also hikers and runners feel right at home due to the extensive network of paths embedded in a spectecular mountain landscape.

A special little paradise, not only for sportsmen, is the Prader Sand, a natural river delta as it can be rarely found. The adjacent fish ponds with the restaurant 'Fisherstube' attract numerous people from near and far as soon as the first warm days begin.

Another attraction is the castle ruin of Lichtenberg. The fortress was built around 1200 and is one of the second largest castles in South Tyrol. The castle was probably inhabited until the beginning of the 19th century. From May to October weekly (Wednesday morning) guided tours are offered to which you can make a reservation at our reception.

Prad also has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool where you can swim your rounds surrounded by the enchanting mountain scenery. For children there is a playing area as well as two great water slides. Our guests receive free entrance tickets at our reception.

The recently built nature experience path, in the "Prader Kultur", a pine forest, only a few minutes away from the centre, is a place where particularly young guests and school classes feel well. Once across the river "Suldenbach" there is the path "Gumperleweg" in Agums, where children as well as adults can get to know the inhabitants of the forest in a playful and funny way.

The local fish world can be seen in the Aquaprad National Park House. There, everything revolves around the topic of water. In the basement you can marvel at 35 local fish species in 12 beautifully laid out aquariums. In the upper floor changing exhibitions are taking place. In an impressive manner, visitors will receive insight into the local fish fauna – from mountain streams to rivers, from high mountain lakes to the floodplain.

Playing tennis and volleyball, mini golf, fishing, treading dew and water in the morning, in the nearby mountain stream are just some of the other activities you can do in and around Prad.
